Students in this class will have an opportunity to experiment with new forms, techniques, and ideas in still and moving images, audio, and hybrid digital practices, and will be asked to think about both the formal qualities of what they produce, and the information this imagery carries in content, metadata, and code. Building on the knowledge acquired in digital studio courses, students will work on self-directed projects, supported by ongoing critiques and contextual instructions. Through reading, discussion, projects, and critiques, students will explore the framework of digital media in theory and practice, and will utilize computer graphics and animation skills to create artworks that critically engage with these issues.
